East Lane - Starbucks
A New Cafe for Ohio State Students
In order to create a cafe fitting both the needs of students and the culture of Ohio State University within the strong brand identity of Starbucks, I designed within the overlap of the three categories. Students want an environment where they are comfortable and accommodates them whether they are working on a group project, meeting a friend after class or writing a paper.
As this cafe would primarily serve those associated with the university, it was important to bring in the school’s heritage through a large mural of an identifiable part of campus and more subtly through a nod to the school’s colors in the palette and artwork. Combining the idea of Starbucks as a third place with the specific personality of OSU created a destination for students and alumni alike.
