Wethersfield - Sally’s Apizza

Modern Take on Heritage Brand

Mixing new and old to create a new era for a cult followed pizza brand was the objective for this location. Looking to the original historic location for inspiration, I brought in details such as the iconic red and white pizza oven facade, the eclectic materials, and the classic booths but kept them feeling current with modern updates.

The 70s style paneling in the original location was reimagined here in 3 different forms: a classic vertical plank behind the memorabilia gallery wall, the larger sheets on the walls around the booths and bar, and the dimensional vertical strips on the face of the bar. High contrast materials around the open kitchen brings customers’ focus to the theater of crafting the very pizza they came to enjoy, which can be see from all seating. Rounding out the palette with warm metals in the custom millwork brings a slightly more contemporary styling to the space.
